Studio Busbey

Studio Busbey Studio Busbey is an abstract, custom art company based in St. Louis, MO and shipping anywhere with r My name is Alex Busbey. College took me to St. Alex

I grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas where my love of art began. I started out painting on the floor of the garage anytime I got the chance—usually the moment I had enough money to buy a new canvas. Louis and with less time and resources available, I naturally made a shift to photography. Photography has taken me to nineteen countries and counting, heavily shaping my view and understanding of life.

It has a special place in my heart, and I will always appreciate where it took me and the things it allowed me to capture. However, after several years, I could no longer ignore the calling back to my roots of paint, charcoal, and ink. This led me to what is now Studio Busbey; located in the heart of downtown St. Louis and delivering anywhere lovers of art can be found. I specialize in custom artwork but have a working inventory of paintings that can be found in the blog and project sections of this website. Examples of custom work cover everything from pastel creations for kids’ rooms, to sports paintings for man caves, to large works for businesses and offices. I also am for hire for photography jobs, traveling or otherwise. I am more selective on these, but feel free to contact me and we can decide if it is a good fit. Let’s bring your vision to life!

Hello all!

With COVID putting things on lockdown, I have been taking some time to make Studio Busbey into a real company. The amazing maker space MADE St. Louis closed its doors temporarily to keep everyone safe, so the difficult decision had to be made... either wait until things are back to normal, or invest in a laser cutter. I'm happy to say, I went with the latter!

Along with this major investment, I also applied to become an official entity and started on an Etsy page. When things are a bit more set I will make another post on the full spectrum of what products and services Studio Busbey will offer.

Excited for this new chapter!

Laser engraving has been a very exciting addition to my arsenal and I can't wait to figure out how to apply it to the larger pieces I generally like to make. $50 for a custom engraved flask!

Hello all!

As some of you may be aware, I am also an aspiring Actuary. The process to get our equivalent of "licensure" is comprised of 9 exams, each roughly the size of the CPA exam (300-500 hours of study time each). I have been going strong at this process to get through it quickly, which has been severely limiting my art time... as well as social time (sorry friends!).

A few months ago, I was finally able to squeeze in the beginnings of a website, as well as making a real name and ordering business cards, etc. My official 'business' name will be Studio Busbey and the website is studiobusbey.com.

I am honored to have had enough success to keep this going and start taking things more seriously. I want to thank all of you, my friends and family, for your support. I have a lot of big ideas for the future (shows/fairs, classes, videos, etc.) when things slow down. I will also try to post a little more about the things that happen in the meantime.

The name of this page will also be changing to Studio Busbey. I apparently needed to make a post about the name change for them to approve... for some reason. 🙂

Have a great day everyone, and Let's Go Blues!

Hey everyone!

Just stopping in to post a few recent(ish) photos of the art I've done lately.

Over the next few weeks I will be converting my current home office to a studio and moving all of my supplies over. I loved the idea of having a separate space, but just didn't seem to get there often enough. Hopefully I'll be doing A LOT more art now that it will be so accessible.

As always, feel free to contact me with any level of interest in a custom piece or something I have posted on here.

Thanks!

Alex
