I would like to share some information with everyone. I often have customers who request to salvage the exterior trim. I explain that it's extremely difficult to salvage the trim for this very reason(seen in the pictures) more often than not. Years of extreme weather in Central Oregon can take a serious toll on materials. Even though we may not get very much rain, we make up for it in massive temperature swings any where from -25 degrees to 100+ degrees Fahrenheit. That's why I always make sure exterior trim is included in my estimates for new windows and sliding glass door installations. I understand that trying to salvage materials can be a concern for everyone financially and theoretically. The reality is an old window most likely has different dimensions from the new windows and may not be able to matched properly. This may be obvious for some, but some people may not be aware of the process. Thanks for taking the time to read my small piece of advise on your next window or door replacements.
