Ruthie and I are ready for Fall y'all! She desperately needed an upgrade before Fall cleanups. I originally built Ruthie out of an old ping pong table.. it was fun and kind of novel but didn't really stand up to all of the weather and wear and tear she was getting.. thankfully I have an awesome village. my neighbor welded new rails and installed new walls, and while my husband and I went on a much-needed vacation in New Mexico, Ruthie had a slumber party with a very dear friend and incredible mural artist Chris Mightyfineart Bates. I've always wanted this picture of my grandma on my trailer and I think he did such a great job bringing my vision to life and made it better than I ever could have imagined.. I'm sure his neighbors thought I was a weirdo crying as I attached the trailer..Let's roll Ruthie!!

Little by little, big progress! 🌿✨ Our Hugelkultur heart project is coming together, and every couple of Mondays we’re getting closer to the vision.
​Here’s where we’re at:
🌾 Added a rich layer of hay over the wood core
🌳 Planted a couple of gorgeous Redbud trees
🌷 Tucked away perennial bulbs (Allium, Anemone, and Scilla) for an epic spring reveal!
​Plus, snagged an absolute STEAL—two massive geraniums on Fall clearance for just $3.99 each for a friend's new planter! 🚨 Overwintering those babies in the garage means they’ll be ready to explode with blooms come spring.
​Next up: adding topsoil to the bed and introducing European nightcrawlers to do what they do best—turn those logs and sticks into pure black gold. 🪱

Today I turned a tiny, overgrown corner into a cozy outdoor hangout space for my neighbor!

​Just because it’s a rental with a budget doesn't mean you cut corners on ground prep. We cleared out the w**ds, layered recycled cardboard to naturally suppress w**d growth, reused the old mulch as a solid base, and topped it off with fresh shredded cedar. It smells amazing and looks like a completely different yard.

​Huge transformations don't always take huge budgets—just Ruthie the trailer, good prep, and a little sweat equity! 💪

I might need to add TP removal to my Fall services! My sweet clients got TP'd last night and they did a great job of getting it out of the flower beds before I got there, but there was still some high up in the trees! It made it easy to find the house!! Helped to clean up this garden bed and some deadheading and cleanup.. loving this weather!!

What a glorious day in the gardens!
​Today was one of those days that reminds me why I love what I do so much. Started out untangling a wild mix of iris and daisies for a client, and got to pass along the extra divisions to a sweet neighbor walking by (who gave me the absolute best thank-you hug!).
​From there, it was straight into turning another client’s yard into a mulched, garden-bed haven. But the bittersweet part of the day hit at my final stop—pulling annuals out of pots and tucking the garden in for the upcoming season. I couldn’t bear to let it all go just yet, so I convinced my client to leave the gorgeous cosmos standing a little longer! 🌸
​I left her with a bucket bouquet of the day's final blooms—all while Boyz II Men’s “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye” played on a non-stop loop in my head. 🎶
​Fall is my absolute favorite season, but it always comes with a little tug at the heartstrings. I’m going to miss these gardens and my amazing clients over the quiet months, but I'm holding onto the fact that Spring will be back before we know it.

Making major progress! Today we finished up all the pathways and driveway and got to work on the Hugelkultur bed for flowers for next year. My client raked back the mulch for a kidney shaped berm, but of course I insisted on a Heart shaped one. First layer is logs, big sticks and some leaf debris and some funky gunky from getting her water fountain cleaned.. looking for leaves and fireplace ashes if you've got them. Next week we will plant the trees, perrenials bulbs in other spots in the garden and add more sticks, twigs and other stuff to the pile before we add soil in a few weeks. I think this wood heart might be my new logo! Lol!

My clients reached out for a pre Fall cleanup because last Fall they didn't do a cleanup and all the volunteer jupiters beard and grasses had relocated themselves to inconvenient places.. looks so much better now! We literally filled Ruthie to the brim and I made it to the recycling center with a few minutes to spare! Grateful for my helper who works hard, tolerates my jokes and takes pictures of me with grass hats.

I'm SO GRATEFUL for the cooler weather today! I helped my sweet client plant her Garden In A Box kit and there were some really cool flowers in the Butterfly Haven kit, Goldenrod, Blue Pitcher Sage, Showy Fleabane and so much more. Also got to check on my plant friends I planted this Spring and the Hibiscus from Flower Power did really really well!! I can't wait to see this garden next year.
