Winter showed up… and our house immediately filed a complaint.

I'm working from home this morning on some permit drawings using AutoCAD for a kitchen and two bathroom remodels.

Gracie, my 9 year old Corgi, is supervising and judging me from the hallway.

She hasn’t blinked.
She hasn’t moved.
And I know without doubt that she is silently judging proportions, layouts, and my overall competence.

If corgis had longer legs, she’d absolutely be hovering over my shoulder.

Excellence requires oversight or at least Gracie thinks so.

🏠 What happens when the contractor becomes the client?

Short answer: chaos, blue painter’s tape everywhere, and a bathtub that almost fell through the living room ceiling. 🛁⬇️

After 20+ years of remodeling homes for clients, my wife and I decided to fully gut and rebuild our own. Seven months later, we survived:

Did you know that we remodel all sorts of spaces in all sorts of homes? This kitchen remodel project occurred in a 154 year old home with very limited space in a very cool neighborhood in Central Ohio. During our first meeting with the homeowners they made it clear that they desired a simple yet elegant kitchen that didn't fight with the very cool woodwork, exposed brick, and other aspects of their 154 year old home. They also love wood and were adamant about having stained cabinetry.

After several iterations and many conversations we settled on a design and this is the end result! Special thanks to our appliance supplier Custom Distributors, our cabinet and countertop supplier Distinctive Kitchen, our plumbing fixture supplier Carr Supply, and Hamilton Parker for the perfect backsplash tile.
