Most people look at a concrete floor and see…a concrete floor.

Aaron looks at it differently.

He’s looking at what was previously installed.

How it was removed.

Whether the surface was prepared consistently.

What condition the slab is in.

What needs to happen before the next flooring system touches it.

Those details aren't always exciting on Instagram.

But they become very exciting when you're responsible for the schedule, budget or performance of a commercial project.

Experience is knowing what to look for before it becomes a problem.

So you might expect us to tell everyone they need the exact same one.
We won't.

A warehouse doesn't use its floor the same way a showroom does.

A dealership has different demands than a school.

A manufacturing facility may have entirely different concerns than a commercial office.

The right question isn't simply:
“Should we do epoxy or polished concrete?”

It’s:
“What does this space need this floor to do?”

Start there.

Then choose the system.

Sometimes our job is to make sure the floor is actually ready for whoever comes next.

That can mean:
removing existing coatings,
removing adhesive,
grinding the surface,
addressing damaged concrete,
preparing the substrate,
and turning over a floor the next contractor can work with.

For general contractors and flooring partners, that means having a crew that understands where your work ends and the next trade begins.

Why did it happen?

There can be several contributing factors depending on the slab, preparation, environment, previous system and how the space is being used.

That’s why we don’t believe in automatically throwing another coating over a problem and calling it repaired.

If the concrete has contamination, old adhesive, deteriorated coatings, damage, moisture concerns or inadequate preparation, covering it up doesn’t make those issues disappear.

We do too.

But when it comes to commercial flooring, some of the most important work happens long before the finished floor gets photographed.

Old coatings may need to be removed. Adhesive may need to come up. Damaged areas may need attention. The concrete has to be properly prepared for whatever is coming next.
