This past weekend our crew partnered with the Act of Valor Foundation to rebuild the basement stairwell at American Legion Wilson Ritch Post 432 in Port Jefferson — donating the labor and materials to build a new overhead canopy that keeps rainwater out of the building for good.
We worked alongside middle and high school students from the foundation's Youths Helping Heroes at Home program, who earned volunteer hours while learning what it looks like when a community shows up for the people who served.
