Meet Alvaro E. Contreras, CEO and founder of America Engineering Contractor Inc.

Alvaro was born and raised in Cartagena, Colombia. He was very passionate about numbers, computations, and teaching. As a result, he worked as an engineer and a professor of mathematics and computer science for 15 years. Eventually, he decided to leave Colombia and pursue the American dream. He came over to the United States in the year 2000. The transition was not easy but in 2006, he became a licensed general contractor and opened up America Engineering Contractor Inc. Between 2011 and 2018, in addition to his work as a general contractor, he taught mathematics and statistics at several colleges and universities including Miami Dade College and Palm Beach State College. He holds a Bachelor in Civil Engineering, a Master in Information Systems, and is currently working on his PhD in Management/Information Systems and Technologies.

Alvaro enjoys complex projects and being thoroughly involved in all aspects of the construction process. All together, he has over 40 years of experience in the construction industry. His optimism, innovative problem solving skills, and expertise in project management make him a highly effective general contractor and the driving force behind America Engineering Contractor Inc.
