Just Me and Old Blue

For twenty-five years it’s been just me and Old Blue—
A man with no lessons, a guitar that knew.
Hundreds of tunes out of thin air,
Her strings, my soul, a perfect pair.
I can't play music, so she plays instead.
I hold the guitar, she carries the thread.
Artist and instrument, honest and true.
Another song together, just me and Old Blue.

It Wasn't Enough:
I always wanted something more,
a bigger house, I could adore.
A love that burned a brighter flame,
a life that felt like more than same.
A willing friend, unconditional, just wasn't enough, it wasn't plentiful.
But each new thing just left me cold,
the hunger grew, it took its hold.
I never stopped to truly see
the gifts already given me.
What I had was good, was real,
but thought I needed more to feel. I took for granted lots of things, not accepting what God brings.
Now it’s gone, I understand,
enough was always in my hand.

Family’s divided, finances run thin.

But I know, Almighty, You’re still near.
Bills stack high like mountains of stone,
I fight these battles, yet feel alone.
But You are the God who parts the sea,
What’s impossible for me—is simple for Thee.
When my loved ones argue, drift, and fall,
You whisper peace above it all.
Bind the broken, heal the scar,
Draw our hearts back to where You are.
Though I stumble, though I cry,
Though hope feels faint and dreams may die,
