I received my REALTOR® pin today.

As I sat through a class at the Granbury Association of REALTORS®, met members of the Board, toured the Association, and finally met a teammate I’d only known through Zoom, I found myself smiling.

Not because this is a new direction.

Because it’s the next chapter of the same story.

My role has never fit neatly into one box.

Law.
Construction.
Business development.
Risk management.
Marketing.
And now, real estate.

Each experience has added another layer to the way I serve people.

For Story Builders, becoming a REALTOR® isn’t about adding another title. It’s about simplifying the journey for the families we work with.

Helping them find the right piece of land.
Understanding the possibilities before they buy. Walking alongside them from that first conversation all the way through design, construction, and finally, home.

It’s one more way to make what can feel like a complicated process a little more personal.

I’m grateful for the warm welcome from the community of Granbury and excited to continue building relationships here as we lay down roots.

People often ask us where a custom home begins.

Most assume it’s with a floor plan.

For us, it’s something much simpler.

It begins by standing on the land.

Before a single line is drawn, Derek spends time understanding the property, its views, its light, its topography, and how a home should belong there.

Then comes the listening.

How does this family live? What do they hope this home will become?

Only then does the design begin.

Not by trying to make an existing plan fit.
But by creating a home that is shaped by both the family and the land.

Months later, those drawings become walls. Those walls become rooms filled with laughter, conversation, celebration, and new beginnings.

That’s why we do what we do.

Not just to build houses.

To create homes where life’s best stories will unfold.

Every true custom home begins long before the first shovel ever hits the ground.

It begins by listening.
Listening to how a family lives.
What they love.
What they hope for.
What they want this next chapter of life to look like.

This week, we had the privilege of taking those first steps with a wonderful family in Tolar. We walked their land together.
Visited their current home to better understand their style and the spaces that matter most to them. We talked about dreams, priorities, and possibilities.

Then this morning, Derek headed back out to the property.

Not to measure.

Not to stake the house.

Simply to stand on the land.
To take in the views.
To understand the light.
To imagine how a home could belong there.

Around here, we believe great design doesn’t start at a drafting table. It starts by standing on the land and dreaming alongside the family who will one day call it home.

We’re honored they entrusted us with that journey.

What a weekend! On the heels of another full weekend!

Last weekend we had the privilege of welcoming friends, neighbors, fellow builders, and visitors from across the area into Cedar & Stone.

One of our favorite parts wasn’t showing the house itself—it was the conversations.

Sharing the story of the land.

Explaining why spaces were designed the way they were.

Talking about family, gathering, hospitality, and the vision that shaped this home from the very beginning.

For months, Cedar & Stone was drawings, decisions, construction schedules, and long days on site.

These past two weekends it became what we always hoped it would be: a place where people connect.

To everyone who stopped by, thank you.

Five months.

From raw land to foundation.

From framing to finishes.

From a vision on paper to a home filled with family and friends.

This video captures the story of Cedar & Stone - from the first days of on the land and early construction through completion of the home and one of its very first milestones: hosting our son John's wedding.

There were weather delays, long days, countless decisions, and an incredible team of subcontractors, vendors, family, and friends who helped carry this project forward.

What makes this home especially meaningful is that it wasn't built for a single event.

It was built for family.

For gathering.

For hospitality.

For generations to come.

The wedding simply became the first chapter in the story.
