As we all know by now, freezing temps are coming. Here is a list of a few things that are beneficial to get us through the weather.
1. Drip all faucets (hot and cold) this keeps water moving through the pipes. The drip needs to be more than just a slow drip but not a wide open flow.
KEEP FAUCETS DRIPPING WHILE THE TEMPS ARE BELOW FREEZING (day and night)
2. If you suspect your pipes are frozen, turn the water off to your home or call the city to have them turn the water off. This will minimize the water damage once pipes have thawed if there is a burst pipe. Once pipes are frozen there is nothing that can be done until the temps outside come above freezing.
3. Remove hoses from exterior hose bibs. Insulate your hose bib with either a hose bib cover (can be found at Home Depot or Lowes) or you can wrap them with towels.
4. We work closely with a water remediation company and can refer them to help with any water damage that may occur.
