Where gardens and children are both tended Plants, landscape design, gardening…My love, side hustle and happy place! It all started with my grandma and my mom.

They could cut a sprig of pretty much anything and grow it into another plant. Watching over the years, I began to do the same. In 2005, I started landscaping the lawn of our first home and over the years have helped friends with plant and landscape needs. Here is the deal…your landscape can be simple. It should be simple. If you want something new and fresh that doesn’t always mean a total scrape and it definitely doesn’t have to break the bank. There are so many ways to tackle a refresh. I see many landscapes over planted, causing homeowners to overspend in the beginning, leaving them to the task of removal and trashing of plants within a year. Whether you are looking for a fresh look or complete redesign, I can help. A beautiful landscape adds value to your home, improves your neighborhood and definitely brings you endless happiness. Okay, okay… we admit it. We just wanted your attention. 😂👀

No unpaid invoice. No angry client. And definitely no Jessica M.

What is real? This outdoor transformation and our inability to stop showing it off. 🌿✨

Because when a landscape comes together this beautifully, keeping it buried in the camera roll just isn’t an option.

And maybe this is your sign to start thinking about the outdoor space you’d love to show off, too.

Have a yard that’s ready for a new vision? Let’s talk about what’s possible.

Book your design consultation at henandchix.com and let’s create a thoughtful plan for your outdoor space.

My camera roll after a site visit 📸

A little dirt, a lot of progress, and approximately 47 photos of every possible angle. 😂

Because site visits aren’t just about checking in they’re about catching the details, seeing how everything is coming together, and making sure the vision on paper is translating into the real space.

The finished project might get all the attention, but this part of the process matters, too. 👀

And yes, the camera roll will absolutely be full by the time we’re done. Because as much as we love a polished “after,” there’s something just as satisfying about seeing everything it took to get there.

Which do you love seeing more the behind-the-scenes process or the finished transformations? Tell me below. 🌿

This front yard went from dense and overgrown to open, fresh, and thoughtfully planted.

Removing the oversized shrubs gave the garden beds a chance to shine and more importantly, brought the focus back to the home. The new planting adds softness, texture, and variety without hiding everything behind a wall of greenery.

The result feels simple, but the impact is big: a cleaner view, defined garden beds, and a front landscape that feels much more welcoming. 🏡

Proof that a curb appeal refresh doesn’t always mean adding more. Sometimes, it starts with knowing what to take away and what to put in its place.

Which look would you want greeting you when you pull into the driveway?

Consider yourself warned.

Some outdoor spaces have a way of making you rethink how much time you actually want to spend inside.

A covered space to relax, plenty of room to enjoy the yard, and a setup that feels like a natural extension of home? Yeah… we can see how the obsession starts. 😏

That’s what thoughtful landscape design can do. It’s not just about making a backyard look good it’s about creating a space that makes being outside feel like the obvious choice.

So if you caught yourself staring a little too long, the warning did its job. 😂

💚 Save this one to your backyard inspiration folder.

Some yard problems don’t get easier when you ignore them… they just become tomorrow’s bigger project. 👀

We get it. Starting a landscape project, dealing with drainage, staying ahead of weeds, or figuring out what to plant can feel like a lot especially when it’s easier to say, “We’ll deal with it later.”

But “later” can look like standing water after every storm, weekends lost to an overgrown yard, plants that need to be moved or replaced, and money spent fixing something that could have been planned for from the beginning.

The good news? You don’t have to tackle everything at once.

Sometimes the smartest first step is simply understanding what your yard needs, what matters most, and what makes sense for your budget.

A thoughtful plan now can save you a lot of guessing later. 💚

Which yard project has been sitting on your “we’ll get to it eventually” list? 👀

Some projects make it VERY hard to be selective. 😂📸

You tell yourself, “Okay, just a few photos of the finished space.”

Then the light hits the landscaping just right…

You notice another detail worth capturing…

And suddenly “a few” becomes an entire camera roll.

But we’re keeping them. Every. Single. One.

Because seeing a landscape go from an idea to a finished space never gets old and these are the kinds of views worth saving. 💚

A beautiful yard is one thing. Feeling heard throughout the process is another.

We believe the best landscapes start long before anything gets planted or built. They start with listening understanding how you want your space to look, feel, and function, then creating a plan that brings those ideas together.

From the initial vision to the people helping bring it to life, we want every detail to feel thoughtful and every step to feel well cared for.

Reviews like this remind us why the experience matters just as much as the end result. 💚

A little less brick. A lot more breathing room. 🖤

For this midcentury home, the front landscape needed an update that felt more in step with the architecture clean, modern, and intentional.

Removing the oversized brick planters opened up the entrance, while sleek steel planters and a concrete paver walkway brought in the simple lines and materials that complement the home beautifully.

Fresh sod and new plantings softened the hardscape, and improvements to the drainage and irrigation helped address how the space functions, too.

The result is an entrance that feels lighter, cleaner, and much more connected to the home’s midcentury style.

That one sentence every landscape designer secretly loves to hear… 👀😂

“Just do what you have to do.”

Suddenly, the possibilities are endless.

But while we love having room to get creative, good landscape design isn’t about adding everything. It’s about knowing what’s worth adding, what your property actually needs, and where your budget will make the biggest impact.

That could mean better drainage. A more functional layout. The right plants for the space. New hardscaping. Or simply making what you already have work better.

You bring us the yard (and maybe a little creative freedom 😉).
We’ll help you figure out the rest.

Consider this your official invitation to enable your plant-and-patio obsession.

Because if the “trap” includes a cozy place to lounge, gorgeous greenery, and a yard that actually feels like an extension of your home…

We’re not even trying to escape. 😂

Life’s too short for an outdoor space you only look at through the window. Create one that makes you want to stay awhile.

Know someone who’d happily fall for this? Tag them below. 👇

And if this looks suspiciously like your kind of trap, Hen & Chix can help you plan the outdoor space you’ve been dreaming about.
