Hi Everyone! I am so sorry for the hiatus. Currently we are looking into other options for possible meeting spaces due to the library being closed to groups. The club also has to be mindful of the governor's current mandates. In the meantime, keep practicing chess either with family or online, study strategy, and don't give up hope. We will be back as soon as we can and be even better for it. Best regards to everyone.

Hello All, during this current time we will post pone our meetings. The library is closed currently until the 31st of March. We will reevaluate closer to then when the next meeting will be. In the mean time, keep playing chess and stay healthy. There may be some mini competitions when we resume...hint, hint.

We often hear that chess is useful in other phases of life. While this is true for the ones who play the sport, it is still quite a big question to the uninitiated as to what exactly are the benefits of playing chess. General information

Culpeper Chess Club meets every Wednesday from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the Culpeper County Library in the large meeting room. Open to players from 5 years of age through adult. Our club has players from beginner to advance with lessons for our beginners and occasional strategy learning sessions. We offer a fun, relaxed setting for players who just want an occasional game to those looking to increase their gaming potential. We offer three tournaments a year hosted by our club with information for many others provided for those interested. Junior officers are elected for one year positions and aid club in it's activities. Every year a club t-shirt contest is sponsored by the club. Images from the contest go into a club t-shirt that can be purchased for a small fee. This club is ran by volunteers and has no member fees at this time. Heads of the club are Charity Karstetter, Trevor Taylor and Alan Burnham. * Please note, if Culpeper County Schools are closed due to inclement weather, the club will not meet that day for the safety of our members.
