The difference between a professional operator and an amateur with a rental.
Forestry mulching looks fun. Done right, it isn't the joyride people think it is.
Most people figure they can rent a machine, or hire the cheapest guy with a skid steer, and knock their brush down. You can. But you won't solve your problem.
If you're just hammering through and flattening everything, you're left with a field of debris that takes a decade to break down. You can't mow it. You can't maintain it. And in two years the brush is back — same problem, same expense. Now you're on a mulching subscription you never signed up for.
A professional is methodical. Every piece gets broken down into a fine mulch. It decays fast enough for grass to fill in, and slow enough that the brush doesn't return. It puts nutrients back in the soil and leaves a clean seed bed you can mow in weeks.
Here's the test: if you can't safely hit it with a residential mower when it's done, the land isn't usable.
A pro does a job once. An amateur just resets the clock.
