Our next project… My customers had this tile shower 5 years or so ago. Recently, they began to notice signs of water damage in the adjacent hardwood floor and wall. They also noted that despite cleaning with bleach, they couldn’t seem to keep the grout clean.

When I came to evaluate the issues, I knew it was showing signs of a failed shower build.

So a word of caution, especially for shower/bath work: When interviewing a contractor, get references and call them. Also, come right out and ask how the contractor is planning to waterproof your shower and get details. If they’re reluctant to tell you or act offended, move on. I do Schluter shower systems. They’re 100% waterproof and have a lifetime guarantee. I’m not offended to share that and welcome those conversations with customers. A well built shower that lasts a lifetime isn’t cheap. Neither is recovering from extensive water damage.

So check in from time to time because I’ll be posting pics and vids along the way as we bring this one back to life, giving the customer a beautiful new, leak-proof shower!
