Routine shrub trimming removes light, uneven growth and helps maintain a shrub’s established shape. It keeps stray branches under control without making major changes to the plant’s size or structure. Staying ahead of this growth can reduce the need for larger corrective pruning later. A little routine care goes a long way toward keeping shrubs neat and well-maintained.

You’re not done mowing until you get those edges! What often separates a good-looking yard from a great-looking yard is the clean line where the grass meets sidewalks, driveways, and curbs. Edging cuts back grass along hard surfaces and creates a crisp border around the lawn. Those sharp lines give the entire property a finished look.

Make sure your mower blades are sharp! The condition of a mower blade affects every cut across a lawn. A sharp blade cuts the grass cleanly, while a dull blade tears it and leaves rough tips behind. These torn ends can turn brown and increase the chance of insect and disease problems. Sharp blades help the lawn look smoother and stay healthier after each mowing.

A mowing service is not finished when the mower stops. Blowing clears cut grass and debris from driveways, sidewalks, and other hard surfaces. It also keeps debris away from storm drains, vehicles, and people. The final cleanup leaves the property neat from the lawn to the curb.

When trimming flowering shrubs, timing is the first thing to consider. Fall bloomers, such as some camellias and Encore azaleas, are beginning their flower display while many other shrubs are finished. Trimming during this time can remove flowers before the blooming season is over. Waiting until the blooms are finished protects the color these shrubs bring to the fall landscape.
