The McCord home has quickly gotten some major pieces installed and now we're gearing up for the details! And seeing the full picture of this remodel is extremely satisfying. Can you believe it's possible to make a basement this sunny?? ☀️ 🫧 🧺

✨ We got a makeover… and so did our website!

Our new website is officially LIVE, and it’s not the only part of HC Remodel & Design that’s gotten a fresh new look lately. 👀

Along with our brand refresh, we wanted our website to better reflect who we are, what we do, and what it’s actually like to work with us. The new site is cleaner, easier to navigate, and packed with a lot more information than before from our remodeling process and services to our team and past projects!

💫 New look, same great team! 💫

Over the years we’ve been growing, evolving, and refining who we are and we decided it was time for our brand to do the same.

Our refreshed look feels a little more polished, a little more design-forward, and a whole lot more us. While things may look different around here, what matters most hasn’t changed: thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship, and making the remodeling process as simple (and fun!) as possible.

💦 A little bit of Vanity 💦

When we started the McCord Mansion project we were set out to focus on the laundry room, but we got to transform some neighboring spaces as well! Just off of the main room we renovated a small powder room to be just as bright and lovely as the laundry room. And what a joy it was to take the elements from the laundry room and put them to play in a slightly different way! More plumbing fixtures are quickly falling into place as we near completion of this project, so make sure you're following along to see all the great details!

🚕🚕 The Cab is Here! 🚕🚕

The McCord Mansion elevator finally has a cab, and man is it slick! This is a huge step in this project and will really speed up the remainder of the work. The basics are in and we're getting close to decorating. Stay tuned for the fun part!

🛝 Laundry Chute Door in motion! 🛝

🛝 We Chute, We Score! 🛝

We knew there were ways to make this laundry chute more accessible and nicer to look at. With this brick laying behind the walls, we decided to make some moved and open things up. But that meant we also needed a new door. This custom laundry chute door was a bit tricky to figure out but we're thrilled with the final product that allows for easier access to the clothes ready for a wash! 🫧 🧼 💫

⏳️ A little lesson in History! ⏳️

When we stepped foot inside the laundry room of the McCord Mansion, we saw these large, original sinks front and center. Our crew and the homeowners all agreed that we should do what we can to bring these beauties back to life. Unfortunately two were beyond repair, but we took the remaining pair and polished them up to be good as *almost* new!

When our owner, Gary, took the drains out to restore them, he uncovered a little stamp that told us a lot about where these sinks came from. If you look close at the last picture, you can see the name "WOLFF." These sinks came from L. Wolff Manufacturing Co. based in Chicago. That company manufactured plumbing fixtures and accessories from 1985 to just after WWII.

It took us some time but the sinks are officially placed in the laundry room and ready to get back to work! 🫧💧🧺
