Now, while the TDS is low and most of all drinking water quality standards are met. Unless proper tests for bacteria indicators have been done PLEASE be advised that an exempt well under no circumstances can be plumbed into a household, nor used for human consumption (Texas law). No matter what anybody tells you! A shallow well has an introduction of contaminants every time it rains or water runs the roadway and ends up into the ground. One way or another. Because of that, you truly never know if it's safe for human consumption. In order to even have an idea. A water sample needs to be sent away and properly tested for bacteria indicators. It may meet drinking water quality standards in every other aspect. However, if you're not sending it off, then you truly cannot drink it and should not! Even with those results, they truth is, they may change the very next rain. Therefore, exempt shallow water wells are for irrigation, landscape, pools, Etc and under no circumstances for human consumption! Please don't drink the water.
