City Manager Peter Zanoni Declares Stage 1 Water Restrictions

Corpus Christi, TX – Pursuant to Section 5 and in accordance with the City Council’s Approved Drought Contingency Plan, City Manager Peter Zanoni declared that the City of Corpus Christi is now moving into Stage 1 Water Restrictions.

The declaration moves the City from Stage 2 to Stage 1 Water Restrictions and follows the requirements established in the City’s Drought Contingency Plan.

Under Stage 1, Corpus Christi Water (CCW) residential, commercial, and large-volume customers must follow the DCP’s mandatory guidelines.

Stage 1 Regulations:
Landscape irrigation using automatic sprinkler systems or hose-end sprinklers is permitted once per week on each customer’s designated watering day, before 10:00 a.m. and after 6:00 p.m.
Hand watering with a handheld hose equipped with a positive shutoff nozzle, a watering can or bucket, or a drip irrigation system is permitted on any day before 10:00 a.m. and after 6:00 p.m.

Customers can view current information on Stage 1 Water Restrictions, the watering schedule, and additional conservation tips at stage1.corpuschristiTX.gov.

Residential customers should check their designated watering day by address, and industrial, commercial, and institutional customers should refer to the assigned day listed on the City’s watering calendar each month.

CCW asks all customers to watch for and prevent water runoff into streets, gutters, and storm drains while irrigating. Runoff not only wastes water during the drought but can also carry pollutants into the City’s waterways.

About a month ago, Big Carp’s Lawn Services did a thang… WE WENT LLC! 💪🏽🌱

Now that I’ve had a little time to let it sink in, I can honestly say I’m excited, proud, humbled… and yeah, a little overwhelmed too. 😂

With the support of my wife, family, close friends, and everyone who has trusted Big Carp’s Lawn Services with their property, I took a vision I had in my head and made one of the biggest moves toward bringing it to life.

I’m learning that becoming a business owner is about a whole lot more than cutting grass, trimming trees, and making yards look good. 😂 It’s learning the business side, making mistakes, asking questions, handling responsibilities, and continuing to grow every single day.

There are going to be challenges. There are going to be obstacles. And I know I still have A LOT to learn.

But that’s part of the journey.

I had a vision when I started this, and becoming an LLC was only the first step toward where I believe Big Carp’s Lawn Services can go.

Most importantly, I thank God for opening doors, giving me the strength to keep pushing, and surrounding me with people who believe in me.

Tonight, the Big Carp Lawn Services family lost more than a customer… we lost someone who had become part of our family. 💔🕊️

My heart is extremely heavy tonight after receiving the news that one of my longtime and most loyal customers suddenly gained her wings and went home to be with our beloved Lord.

After speaking with her children tonight, the reality of it hit even harder.

When you own a small business and provide a service to someone for years, eventually it stops being just business. They’re no longer just another address on the schedule or another yard that needs to be taken care of.

You build a relationship.

You learn their expectations, their routines, the things they like and don’t like. You have conversations, share laughs, check on one another, and somewhere along the way, without even realizing it, they become family.

That is exactly what happened here.

I am incredibly thankful for the trust and loyalty she showed Big Carp Lawn Services throughout the years. It was never something I took for granted, and I will forever be grateful that she trusted me to take care of her home.

My heart hurts tonight, but it hurts even more for her children and family who are dealing with such a sudden and unexpected loss. I pray that God wraps His arms around each of them and gives them strength, comfort, understanding, and peace in the difficult days ahead. 🙏

Tonight is another reminder that tomorrow is never promised.

Hug your loved ones a little tighter. ❤️
Tell them you love them.
Make the phone call.
Forgive a little quicker.
Spend the extra time together.

Because sometimes we simply don’t know when a conversation, a goodbye, or a simple “I’ll see you next time” may actually be the last.

💧 GOOD NEWS, CORPUS CHRISTI!

Outdoor watering, washing your vehicle, and filling your swimming pool are back under Stage 2 Water Restrictions.

After months of conservation and recent improvements in our water supply, residents will once again have more flexibility while we continue using water responsibly.

Please remember that Stage 2 restrictions are still in effect, so be sure to follow the approved watering schedule.

A welcome step in the right direction for our community. 🌧️💙

10AM (7/20) Tropical Update

We still have Tropical Depression Two in the gulf slowly moving northwest at 3mph. It is expected to strengthen to a Tropical Storm and grab the name "Bertha" later today. Not a cause for panic, but something to watch in the coming days for interests along the Texas and Gulf Coast.
