I have the tendency to use this page for portfolio highlights. Most everything you’ve seen here is the specialty build of each job. In reality, these aren't always the things that pay the bills. So what does?

Well I'm a carpenter by trade with a framing and finish trim background. I'm also a general contractor. At Colonial Carpentry our backbone is exactly that - remodeling and installing doors, windows, baseboard, crown moulding, and door and window trim. We work in new houses, old remodels, commercial buildings, etc. We’re looking to build homes. That’s the the stuff that pays the bills. A sleek cabinet or rustic mantle are just the cherry on top.

So if you or someone you know has a construction project coming up and you need a carpenter or contractor, do not hesitate to reach out! Thanks!

I’m absolutely in love with how this piece turned out. This is a custom fireplace mantle for a house we just wrapped up. We used modified poplar to build it, so this color isn’t stained or finished—it’s just raw wood. If you’re thinking about adding a statement piece to your living room, contact us.

Hi folks, I'm proud to say this door is complete! This is custom through and through. It is a solid white oak, arched top, double action saloon style pantry door. Yeah that's a mouthful... The customer had an inspiration photo of a saloon door with a window in the middle. Across the customer's house were several arched openings. Their front door was white oak as well as cabinets. So here we have merged all these themes. I began designing this back in November. It turns out there was a bit more engineering involved than I anticipated and it taught me a lot. At the end of the day though, it turned out awesome!

I got to see the finished result of these custom light columns we did a while back this week. This is one where we were given an inspiration photo and worked with electricians to bring the idea to life. It *brightened* my day.

Sneak peek into one of the coolest things I’ve ever built. Wrapping up finishing touches this week. Stay tuned.

This is a job we worked on about a year ago doing the beams and finish trim but we came back to install shiplap in the ceiling. Love how it turned out – it really makes the beams pop and adds a lot of character to the vaulted ceiling.

It’s been a while. Still here, just covered up. We’ve been on a big job that has come with some cool pieces I’ll share as it wraps up, but until then, enjoy this photo of my second little man visiting the shop from a while back.

Drawers on drawers on drawers. 25 here and 13 more not pictured for this job. These are for a custom closet that we will be building out this week. Have a good one and let’s get at it.

We build a lot of beams from species like white oak, red oak, pine and more, but poplar and cedar are my favorites. Check out this thermally modified poplar beam though!
