Hey EVERYONE! The leaves are changing, the temperatures are dropping and docks are coming out! :( Some folks are saying they haven't received our email about the new terms and conditions. They are being posted here for your convenience. If you would like the pricing, please leave me a note and I will send you out the full copy of our terms and conditions that includes pricing too.
PRICING & PAYMENTS
To encourage customers to be PRESENT for their dock install/removal and save our office staff from having to regularly track down and collect payments, we are updating our payment terms. There will now be a difference in price for cash paid the day of your install/removal versus billed payments.
*NOTE We will no longer be making second or third trips to your lake house to try and collect payment or meeting up with you at another location. To receive the cash discount, it is DUE the day of your install. If you requested to be on the on-call list, we understand it is a last minute decision to do your dock so you have 48 hours to BRING us cash payment to receive the discount. There are NO OTHER EXEMPTIONS.
*Community Docks receive separate pricing along with larger docks due to the time needed to properly install/remove. They can be quoted upon request.
APPOINTMENT TIMES
Given the nature of docks, we cannot give out appointment times or timeframes. It is almost impossible for us to keep to those times as some docks are quick, and some can take hours to complete. This has been explained when setting up the schedule. Docks change constantly given more are being added to the schedule regularly, and we make the route for the day that makes the most logical and efficient sense. We like to joke that we are like the cable guy, we give you a date but unlike the cable guy, we ACTUALLY SHOW UP.
Jeff gets started on weekdays after 4pm and weekends after 8am. He goes until the docks on the schedule that day are finished. He does not call when he is on to the next because he is generally soaked from being in the lake and prefers not to handle electronics. While we do understand that some clients do not live at the lake year round, you are given a date when he will be there.
You are welcome to leave us detailed notes, emails but this is at your own risk. We install/remove docks to the best of our ability. We try our best to take photos of how things go in and are removed, but it is not always perfect. You are welcome to change your mind of how you want things done but what isn’t okay, is not being present for your install/removal day and expect us to come back and modify what we’ve already done at no charge.
*NOTE Anything outside of our normal dock schedule is a minimum of $125.00 per hour with a 1 hour minimum billed. This includes hoist repairs and adjustments, if you have broken boards to be repaired, or if you want your dock shifted over 3ft. If it is our fault, we will own it but if you were not present for your appointment then it is a minimum of $125.00 per hour.
*NOTE Please give us 24 hours notice if you want to cancel your appointment. We have an on-call waiting list of customers who will gladly take that spot. If no notice is given within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment, we will bill you a $50.00 scheduling fee.
WATER LEVELS
There have been a lot of concerns about lake levels and spring storms over the last couple of years. Lucky Duck still installs docks as early as April because a lot of customers want their dock in as soon as possible. We have NO CONTROL over the lake levels and spring storms, so we will gladly move you on the schedule but it is open to what we have available. Sadly, we cannot just schedule your dock for the next day or the next weekend because we are more than likely already booked.
Lucky Duck Services is NOT liable for damage done to your dock, hoist or anything on your property because of storms, winter weather, high or low water levels.
This being said, Lucky Duck Services will no longer install docks on Honeoye in the month of April. All Honeoye docks will be scheduled in May. The lake is far too volatile with inability to control water levels and we ran into too many issues in the Spring install over the years.
EMERGENCIES
We do now have the capabilities of responding to some emergency dock situations on the lake: high water levels, storms and docks floating away etc. There is a minimum emergency call out fee of $180.00, plus $125.00 per hour with a minimum of one hour billed. Please note, we understand this rate may seem high, but this often involves leaving our jobs and calling in crew who are available for on-call at a higher pay rate. If we need to use the barge for a rescue then it will be $450.00 for the barge fee. If we have multiple clients that day who need assistance, we will try our best to split the large barge fee between everyone we use it for. If your situation is NOT an emergency, we will still respond at our earliest convenience at the normal $125 per hour rate.
*NOTE The owner and operators of Lucky Duck Services have full time jobs. Emergencies will be answered when they are available.
OLD DOCKS/REPAIRS
Lucky Duck Services does not do regular dock maintenance as part of your install and removal, we will offer regular maintenance as an additional service separate from the install/removal. We offer a variety of services to repair them but we cannot control ice in the winter, storms in the summer or docks becoming old and rotten over time. We will gladly help you fix your dock or hoist, or help you with an upgrade if you want. Or if you would like to learn how to maintain your dock, we would be happy to show you some techniques to increase the lifespan of your dock and stanchions. We do reserve the right to not install your dock or part of your dock if it is deemed too dangerous. If deck boards are completely rotten and unsecured or stanchions become broken, then we may not install them as someone could get hurt.
If you would like your dock changed, modified in terms of layout or would like to add more sections, we need advanced notice. We will no longer be doing alterations during our regular install/removal season without prior notice. It severely puts us behind in our schedule and it's not fair to the rest of the dock clients. We will gladly talk to you and give you a quote, and make every attempt to meet your needs but we can’t do that in the middle of a scheduled list of docks without prior notice so we can plan accordingly.
YARD MAINTENANCE
We understand not everyone lives at the lake year round, and for many customers we have asked nicely several times and now we need to put it in writing. Please do NOT cut your grass when the crew is going to be installing/removing your dock. Not only do we have crew members who are allergic to grass and trees, but it is also dangerous. We have had crew slip and fall while carrying the heavy dock sections when the cut grass is slick on walkways and they are already wet from being in the water. The crew cannot also hear each other over the loud lawn mowers.
We also ask you to remove your lawn furniture and children' s toys from being in the way of the crews install and removal. We appreciate that you trust us enough to move your furniture, but you will now be billed if we must move it from being in the path of where your dock and hoist go. Please note, this is entirely up to the crew’s discretion.
UNIVERSAL HARDWARE
We are discovering as we are taking on more docks from other crews, hardware is not universal and requires multiple different tools. It is recommended you change to all the same hardware, and we can assist you with this.
If your stanchions can’t be adjusted, then we can’t adjust it. If you don’t maintain your stanchions, we will not be responsible for leveling abilities of your dock. We can gladly come back and fix them, but we will no longer be spending hours trying to adjust stanchions. This is mostly for new customers as current customers have already been fixed.
Jeff and all the crew at Lucky Duck sincerely thank you for your patronage over the years. We completely understand that some of these changes are hard, but we need to do what is in the best interest of our crew and our business to continue to provide the best quality service we can to our clients. We truly wish you all the best and we completely appreciate your time and understanding.
