Daylight Saving Time ends in a couple of weeks. When you change the clocks, take two minutes and press the test button on every smoke and carbon monoxide detector in the house.

In Colusa County homes we still see detectors that are past their 10-year life, missing a battery, or never installed near the bedrooms. A working unit is the cheapest life-safety upgrade you can make before winter heating season.

If a detector chirps, fails the test, or you want hardwired units with battery backup installed correctly, we can handle it.

Flickering lights in one room usually mean a loose connection or a circuit that is carrying more than it should.

In Colusa and nearby homes, we see this a lot when a room shares a circuit with a space heater, microwave, or shop tools. Sometimes it is just a worn switch or a loose wire nut in a box. Either way, it is worth checking before the flicker turns into a dead outlet or a hot spot.

If a light dims every time the fridge kicks on, or a lamp pulses when you run the vacuum, we can track it down and fix it the right way.

Did you know Sac River Electric is part of PG&E’s Residential EV Charging Trade Ally Network?

We can help qualifying customers explore rebates to reduce the cost of installing an EV charger at home.

Through PG&E’s Rebate Plus program, income-eligible customers may qualify for:

• Up to $2,000 toward an eligible EV charger installation.
• Up to $5,000 toward a qualifying panel upgrade and eligible EV charger installation.

For approved participants, the rebate is paid directly to the participating contractor, reducing upfront costs by the approved amount.

At Sac River Electric, we’re always looking for ways to help our customers save while delivering quality electrical work.

Thinking about home EV charging? Contact us before starting your project so we can help you explore your options.

Rebates are subject to eligibility, PG&E approval, eligible equipment, and available funding. Customers are responsible for costs above their approved rebate.

October storms and the first hard freezes are when a lot of Colusa County homes find out their outdoor wiring was never sealed for wet weather.

Take five minutes this week to walk the outside of the house. Look at the weatherhead, the meter box, and any outdoor outlets or GFCI covers. Soft or cracked seals, rusted boxes, and outlets that trip every time it rains are worth fixing before the next system rolls through.

If something looks off, we can check it and get it sealed and up to code so you are not dealing with a dead circuit on a cold night.

Another commercial project completed in Downtown Marysville!

Sac River Electric recently completed the low-voltage data wiring for this multi-unit building. We ran dedicated data home runs from each individual unit back to the main communications room, providing the infrastructure needed for internet and TV service throughout the building.

From the individual units to the central equipment location, all cabling was routed and organized for a clean, professional installation.

Another one completed by Sac River Electric.

A lot of Colusa homes still run on 100-amp panels that were never meant for heat pumps, extra AC, or a shop welder.

When breakers trip on a hot afternoon, or you cannot add a circuit without doubling up, that is the panel telling you it is full. A 200-amp upgrade gives the house room to grow and keeps the wiring from running at its limit.

We pull the permit, coordinate PG&E when needed, and leave the new panel labeled and ready.

Home charging in Colusa does not have to mean a long cord across the driveway.

A Level 2 EV charger on its own circuit is faster, cleaner, and built for daily use. We size the load, run the conduit, and pull the permit so the install is code-compliant from the start.

If you are adding a charger and the panel is already tight, we will tell you that before we hang the unit.

Outdoor outlets take a beating this time of year around Colusa. Irrigation, pressure washers, holiday lights, and wet mornings all add up.

If an outdoor receptacle is not GFCI-protected, a ground fault can send current through you instead of tripping the breaker. That is a real shock risk on a damp porch or shop wall.

We install weatherproof, GFCI-protected outdoor outlets so the protection is at the receptacle, not somewhere you have to hunt for in the panel.

Wi-Fi cameras are convenient. Hardwired PoE is on another level.

Upgraded this doorbell from Wi-Fi to a Reolink PoE system.

One Cat6 cable. Hardwired power. Hardwired data. No batteries to charge. No depending on a weak Wi-Fi signal. And when connected to an NVR, you can get true 24/7 local recording.

Best part? No more paying a monthly cloud subscription just to access your own security footage.

Your footage can be stored locally, right at your property.

This is the difference between adding a camera and building a hardwired security system.
