Here’s what we’ve been busy doing all summer. A huge deck and addition. At just shy of 900 square ft, this was our biggest project yet. We replaced the screened in porch with a 330 square ft addition to the home. Fully insulated, including the floor, and finished with Nordic pine tongue and groove on the walls, exposed rafters revealing tongue and groove pine structural roof decking as well. The six 4’x4’ picture frame windows (7 in total counting another one we added inside the sunroom) lets you enjoy the woods all within the comfort of the dual zone Daikin mini split we also had installed. Both sliding glass doors were repurposed from the screened in porch we removed and were a great complement to the space. Last but not least we created a covered outdoor kitchen area complete with electric to enjoy grilling, smoking and pizza making all under matching tongue and groove pine from the sunroom. And once again the homeowners started out as “customers” and ended up friends. This job was challenging, stressful at times and exhausting in this heat, but turned out beautifully.

Beware of Zip Up under deck system from NCP industries. We recently used this system for a deck we rebuilt and it failed within weeks. It started with small leaking all over in various spots but as you can see in the video, it ended up holding water and failing completely. I wasted time and energy into trying to get a warranty claim for the 3,716.00 in materials. Even after quoting a portion of their mission statement to the owner, Ryan, directly “we foster a collaborative culture built on integrity, professionalism, and a customer-first approach”. I was met with abrasive, condescending crooks that managed to slither out from their 5 year warranty. Garbage product, garbage company. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Our latest project, all the way up in the nosebleeds on White Oak mountain. Here’s a rendering I designed before the project (with our new software) next to the final product. We built a 40x10 deck 20 ft off the ground, exposed rafters, structural tongue and groove ceiling, with an attached metal roof to match the entire cabin. Replaced the whole back half of the metal roof on the existing cabin, wrapping the flying eaves and soffit with matching black aluminum. All custom trim bent on site with metal brake. Permitted, and inspected from start to finish.

Here’s a remodel we just wrapped up today. We showcased a lot of different skills in this project. Did everything in house, no subbing. Took us about 14 working days in total. We replaced everything from the crawl space up to the ceiling as seen in the photos. This was a fun project and perfect to do when it’s been so cold outside. I’m definitely going to be putting the same birch butcher block in my kitchen after seeing how beautiful that turned out. Custom floating shelves, matching Kohler vanity and toilet. Kicking the new year off with a fresh new logo and modification. Edges & Hedges is now officially Edges Construction LLC!!!
Same quality of work, different logo.
We just “weeded out” the landscaping and handyman work and it was time for a fresh logo.

Deck #4 this year! Toasted sand colored Trex complete with Textured bronze aluminum handrails. We finished the ceiling underneath with a system called Zip-up under deck. It’s a self contained drainage system making the space underneath the deck perfectly dry amidst inclement weather. What a pleasure it was working here the past few weeks with this wonderful couple. Once again, we delivered. We spent the past 3 months rejuvenating the entire exterior of this beautiful home. Got rid of the old Japanese style open soffits, T1-11 siding and weathered pergola and replaced it with quarry gray nickel gap LP Smart Side. The pergola was designed by us and rebuilt with a new product Owen’s Corning came out with called “WearDeck”. Marine-grade fiberglass composite colored in black to match the trim of the home. The icing on the cake wasn’t the pergola we rebuilt, or the black seamless gutters (thanks to Refuge Roofing) it was the friendship that was cultivated with this awesome family as the result. God worked his magic yet again for us. Here’s before, afters and along-the-ways…
