Just asked .......... how much does it cost to replace a breaker that keeps tripping? Great question — the cost to replace a breaker can vary a bit depending on what’s actually causing the problem.

A lot of homeowners think it’s “just a bad breaker,” but in many cases the issue is actually:

• an overloaded circuit
• a loose connection
• an AFCI/arc-fault tripping
• a dual-function AFCI/GFCI tripping
• an appliance pulling too much load
• heat damage at the bus bar
• an aging or weak breaker

Before replacing anything, we always do a quick safety check to make sure nothing is overheating or burning, and that the wiring is still in good shape.

Typical breaker costs:
• Standard breaker: $15–$35
• AFCI breaker: $40–$65
• Dual AFCI/GFCI: $50–$75+

Typical service call + installation:
Usually $150–$225 total, depending on the type of breaker and if anything else is going on in the panel.

Every home is different, so we always check:

• the circuit load
• the panel bus condition
• the breaker connection
• signs of overheating or arcing
• any loose or unsafe wiring

We can also check your smoke detectors — if they’re interconnected, pressing the test button should make all of them sound. Weak batteries or expired detectors often cause nuisance chirping.
