This is one of the first things I learned 10 years ago when I got in this industry. Yes the customer must be prepared that they will find nails after the job is completed. However, that doesn’t mean I won’t do everything I can to leave a job site as clean as possible.

Working with a homeowner on an insurance claim with Travelers. Despite GA code requiring minimal standards, the insurance carrier is trying to dodge paying for a re-deck on this house built in the 50s. However, the local code office confirms they will not allow any modifications to the codes when pulling a permit. So this house will have to get re-decked with code compliant solid sheathed decking in order to pass inspection and validate a shingle manufacturers warranty.

Today I got to assist an engineer and an environmental scientist on a complicated tree loss. The fine tree was 30 inches in diameter and destroyed a deck, most of the under structure of the roof, several sections of the exterior wall, a brick chimney, and even some loadbearing beams in the middle of the house. To further complicate it, the house was built in the 50s and had to have an asbestos abatement. I love learning because it helps provide better service to customers when they need a knowledgeable expert to help them with their job.
