If your shower is starting to show its age - cracked grout, slow drainage, or that damp smell that never fully goes away - it may be worth looking at more than just cosmetic fixes. A shower remodel is a good opportunity to address what's underneath the tile: a proper waterproofing membrane, correct slope toward the drain, and ventilation that actually pulls moisture out of the room instead of just moving it around. It's also a good time to double-check that any outlets near the water source are GFCI-protected, especially in older homes where the bathroom wiring hasn't been touched in a while. None of this shows up in the finished photos, but it's what keeps a remodel looking good - and staying dry - for years. Woods Contracting has walked plenty of Colorado Springs area homeowners through this process and can help you Build it Just Right. If you're planning a bathroom project, we're happy to schedule a time to take a look.

If you're planning to add a new bathroom, appliance, hot tub, EV charger, or a larger kitchen setup, it's worth checking your electrical panel's capacity before the project gets underway. Many homes in the Colorado Springs area were built with 60 or 100 amp service, which covered the appliances of the time but can be tight once higher-draw circuits get added. A licensed electrician can check your panel's amperage, breaker condition, and how much room is actually left in a single visit - a lot easier to plan around than discovering mid-project that the panel needs an upgrade first. This panel was mid-upgrade, with new breakers going in to make room for exactly that kind of added capacity. Wire Works Co. Inc., our electrical division, and Woods Contracting can help you Build it Just Right. If you're planning a project that adds electrical load, we're happy to schedule a time to take a look.

When you're planning an outdoor space, a deck and a patio don't have to be an either-or decision. This recent project used a raised composite with deck with waterproofing under the deck for a decorative concrete patio built in underneath it, giving the homeowners covered patio space below and open deck space above without using any extra yard. Combining the two works especially well on sloped lots, or any time you want more usable outdoor square footage without expanding the footprint. It does take more planning up front - footings, drainage, and how the two structures tie together all matter more once you're building double-duty space. Woods Contracting has built projects like this one and can help you Build it Just Right. If you're planning a deck or patio project, we're happy to schedule a time to take a look.

Kitchen remodels don't always require a full teardown to feel completely different. In this recent project, the layout and plumbing stayed right where they were - what changed was the cabinetry, countertops, and lighting. Keeping the existing footprint kept the project simpler and avoided the added cost and time that comes with rerouting plumbing or moving walls. If you're weighing a full kitchen renovation against a more focused update, it's worth understanding how much a project like this can accomplish within the existing layout. Woods Contracting has been part of projects like this one and can help you Build it Just Right. If you're planning a kitchen project, reach out for a free estimate.

A bathroom remodel does not always need a full teardown to make a real difference.

In this recent project, the layout stayed mostly the same. What changed was the tile, vanity, and a few small adjustments that helped the space work better day to day. We swapped dated tile for a full-height accent wall, added a quartz-top vanity, and cleaned up the layout without changing the footprint.

If you are weighing a full remodel against smaller updates, it is worth knowing there is a lot of middle ground. Woods Contracting can help you Build it Just Right.

Every project starts with finding the root problem — not just covering up the symptoms. This project involved exterior repairs and reconstruction work to correct underlying issues and restore the home properly for long-term durability.

From demolition and site preparation to rebuilding and final finishes, the goal is always the same: build it right the first time.

Small problems can turn into major repairs when moisture, structural movement, or damaged materials are left untreated. Addressing issues early helps protect your home and prevent larger costs later.

Water damage is one of those problems that can go unnoticed until it turns into a much larger repair. Proper shower waterproofing isn’t just about making it look finished — it’s about protecting the structure behind the tile and preventing future leaks, mold, and costly damage.

At Woods Contracting, we focus on building it right the first time so your shower performs the way it should for years to come.

Water damage isn’t just cosmetic. If the source isn’t fixed properly, the problem will continue and often get worse over time.
