Customer called and said their scissor lift intermittently had no forward drive. In about 45 minutes, it was determined that the platform control wiring harness had a broken wire that would occasionally make connection and allow the machine to drive forward. The affected area was identified, isolated, and the broken wire was located and repaired.

Mechanic trivia:
For anyone that follows me, and may have a clue. Whats wrong here?

Operator states that the machine throws rods when adding to the string and putting back into the basket.
A brief inspection showed that the rod scrapes the lower vise die when sliding into and out of the vise.

Little things like this are hard to spot, when everything LOOKS correct. But it's missing one piece.

But if I did - "Working on my own junk" would be the answer.
Air compressor was leaking air into the coolant, and in the evening leaking coolant into the air system.
New compressor and we are back on the road.

Vermeer SC552 had an active engine code for intake air temperature sensor open circuit. This was putting the machine in derate and causing the cutter wheel to spin at low speed. This customer had brought the machine to the dealership, which gave him a repair estimate of over $4,000.
I was able to locate the failed wires and repair the harness for around 85% less.

This Bobcat T770 had a drive motor cover come apart and get jammed into the track. The right side motor cover was on backorder with no known ship date. The cover was removed, worn steel was cut out, and new steel was bent to fit and welded in on-site. All in, the labor to repair both sides was slightly more than just the cost of the motor cover.
The sprockets were also worn and were replaced at the same time.

The replacement process would be fairly quick if the seals did not need to be changed. Unfortunately, Vermeer made sure to have the rotation motors sit over the output seals, so the motors have to be removed in order to replace the seals.
New slide rods and bushings were installed, as one of the slide rods had broken off in the carriage - which is a common occurrence.
