New Fall garden just dropped.

U-shaped raised gardens are a great way to maximize growing space. I like putting these arbors across the north side so - perennial vine like grapes, kiwi or something ornamental can share the space without shading the veggies.

We planted the full range of Fall crops: brussels, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, lettuce, spinach, swiss chard, carrots, radishes. Garlic and onions will go in about 6 weeks. The whole family participated in the planting, which is the best part!

This is true of most fruit, and can be helpful for those where the visual cues don’t tell you everything.

Update on this tiny starter garden installed in May.

Basil, nasturtium, celery, cucumber, and pepper have all been producing. Tomato and edamame are so close to joining the party. The watermelon is ready to start vining over the side of the beds. This garden is about 30” x 30”.

If you follow plant spacing on seed packets there might be 2 plants in this box. Those assume you are planting a monoculture row where the plants will compete for the same nutrients, fill the same space, and attract the same pests. When you plant diversity you can grow so much more!

We’ve been talking about doing this for a while. Grab a snack, a few ingredients for dinner, or some herbs for tea when you walk by next time! We’ll do our best to keep it stocked.

Please leave any jars or containers - just take the food.
