In Episode 4 of Jake & Ollie, the excavator finally fires up and the team begins digging the basement for the new addition. What started as a few layout lines and stakes is now turning into a real foundation.

Ollie watches closely as the machines carve out the space where the home will soon stand. Jake reminds him that before you build up… you have to build down.

Every strong home begins with a solid foundation.

🌧️🚜 EPISODE 3 BLOOPER: TOO SOFT TO DIG

We’ve all been there..

You walk the site.
You think it’ll hold.
You send it anyway.

And then… you don’t.

This little “blooper” is inspired by a real job site moment where an all-terrain lull sunk about a foot into the mud and had to be pulled out. Not our proudest hour — but definitely memorable.

Sometimes the smartest move is waiting for the ground to dry.

Sometimes you learn that the hard way.

🌧️🦺 EPISODE 3: “TOO SOFT TO DIG”

In Episode 3 of Jake & Ollie, the machines are ready… but the ground isn’t.

After laying out the addition, heavy equipment sits waiting in the background. Ollie is eager to see dirt flying, but Jake takes a look at the soil and says something every good builder learns to respect:

“It’s too soft to dig. We wait.”

This episode is about patience. About knowing when not to move forward. Understanding that just because you can push ahead doesn’t mean you should.

Sometimes the smartest move on a jobsite is letting things dry out before you break ground.

Before anything gets built, lines get laid. Straight lines. Careful lines. The kind that decides whether everything that follows goes smoothly… or doesn’t.

Ollie is fascinated by the bright string lines stretched across the site and learns that even the smallest tug can throw off the whole plan. Jake shows that slowing down, checking your work, and respecting the process is how good builders get it right.

It’s a simple lesson from the jobsite — and one that applies far beyond construction.

This episode represents the early stages of character development—before we fully dialed in the final look and feel you’ll see in our profile picture and future episodes.

The Jake and Ollie you’ll see here are part of the creative process as we explored tone, pacing, and storytelling.

Think of this as a proof of concept: • Testing the story
• Testing the message
• Testing whether this idea connects

The heart of the show is already there—building the right way, learning through curiosity, and showing the trades in a positive, meaningful light. The visuals will continue to evolve as the series grows.

We’re building this the same way we build homes:

👋 INTRODUCING: JAKE & OLLIE 🦦📐

Hey everyone — we’re excited (and a little nervous) to finally share something we’ve been building quietly behind the scenes.

Jake & Ollie is a family-friendly animated series inspired by real construction life, real job sites, and real lessons learned along the way. It follows Jake, a thoughtful builder, and Ollie, a curious river otter, as they navigate the process of building a home — from the ground up — while learning about teamwork, patience, problem-solving, and pride in the trades.

This project exists for one big reason:
👉 to bring excitement, respect, and curiosity back to the trades for the next generation.

It’s meant to be fun for kids, meaningful for parents, and familiar to anyone who’s ever worked with their hands or managed a job site. We believe building things the right way still matters — and we want to tell that story in a way that actually sticks.

🚧 We’re also looking to connect with a few people:
• Video editors (short-form, long-form, animation-friendly)
• Storytellers or creatives interested in kids/family content
• Anyone with connections to streaming platforms, networks, or production partners
• Or just people who believe the trades deserve a better spotlight

This is early, grassroots, and being built with intention — just like a good project should be.
