Just finished this end table for my new office! It’s made out of maple logs that fell from that bad storm a few weeks ago, black epoxy, and a pine base. This one was a lot of fun!

Yes I’m baking wood. Yes I’m off my rocker but I’m excited about this new project. These came from fallen trees/branches from a recent storm but I’m trying this oven trick to get the moisture out before I can get to the fun stuff!

Well I finished my first piece of furniture. It’s modeled after the classic Adirondack style chair but easier to get out of (your knees will thank you). Made out of 100% cedar.

Ahoy ye swashbucklers! I always wanted to be a pirate matey. 🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️

Check out this treasure chest I made for one of the boys, it’s made of pine and uses a technique called Shou Sugi Ban which mixes charring wood with either paint or stain. Hello blow torch!

Here’s some things I learned along the way:

- I love the blow torch 🔥
- I need a bandsaw 💸
- Sometimes it’s just cheaper to buy what you wanna make! 😝

This cutting board is what happens when you mix a chevron and a herringbone pattern. It’s made from 3 classic domestic woods: black walnut, cherry, and hard maple (USA! USA!) With all the glue-ups this baby took just under a week from start to finish.

I sanded it up to 320 grit and finished with a food-grade, locally-sourced (Ohio) beeswax.

I got to squeeze in a fun Sunday project!

It’s a small box made out of hard maple, black walnut, and some really beautiful figured maple accents.

The top and bottom have something called “chatoyance,” which occurs from stresses during the growth period in the tree. It used to be considered inferior to more uniform sections of the tree but now it’s widely used.

The 3D effect is caused by light reflecting in the woods’ fiber structure.
