Had a doozy on our hands with this one! Rim joist and sill plate were both completely rotted down the entire portion of the house. This caused the joists to sag, the flooring and sub floor to buckle, and presented a serious structural hazard! Even the vertical walls were kicked out over 1.5” at the bottom😱 we created a couple heavy duty beams and used bottle jacks to raise the joists to relieve pressure off what was left of the sill and rim joist, and supported those further with post jack supports. After demoing what was left, we got to work to sister one particular joist which was heavily rotted and could no longer safely support the weight it was under, using a pressure treated sill plate with sill seal, and a new rim joist install, we were able to safely lower the joists back to a supportive and sound structure. After that we got to work to replace the door that was damaged from the sag caused by rot. With everything properly waterproofed, flashed, and structurally sound, we have a beautiful door install, a safe structure, and an added row of siding to protect the newly installed lumber further. Who’s next?
