One of our favorite clients, one of our favorite backyards. Old Irving Park.

When we showed up it was broken concrete and despair. Design team sat down with them, measured everything out, and worked through what they actually wanted back here. They landed on a Holland stone paver and we laid out the plantings around it.

Crew had it done in just over 4 days.

Granite fusion pavers with a charcoal border, just wrapped this one up.

The pavers were the easy part. We ran into grading issues once we got into it, the kind of thing that turns into standing water and a patio that sinks in three years if you just build on top of it. So we put in two retaining walls, got everything level, and now water moves the way it's supposed to instead of sitting against the house.

$18,000. Turned out great.

Lincoln Square. This one was a grass problem that wasn't really a grass problem.

Homeowner couldn't get anything to grow inside the gate, and the parkway out front was just as rough. Reseeding it again wasn't going to change anything, so we didn't. Paved the inside, built a raised planter bed out in the parkway so the plants actually have decent soil to sit in.

Five days on site. Plant availability was a mess at the start of the season and a couple things we wanted weren't around, but we sourced it out and got everything in the ground.

Came out clean.

Day 4 out in Westridge, and this one's a good example of why we do things the way we do.

Before any pavers went down, we excavated about seven inches to build a permeable base. Water drains through instead of pooling underneath, which means no freeze-thaw heaving come January — the thing that wrecks most patios in this city within a few winters.

It's the part nobody sees and the part that decides whether you're calling someone to re-level this in three years.

This Portage Park backyard came in at $13,000 — a new patio and all-new plantings, redesigned start to finish with the homeowner. Our team meets with every client first to build around exactly what they want.

This Albany Park backyard came in at $6,000. Two trees were blocking most of the sunlight, so we cleared them, laid new sod, and added fresh plantings to bring the whole space to life. Our design team meets with every client first to build around exactly what they want.
