🏆 Huge congratulations to our aggregates teams, who just earned 11 national awards for caring for the environment and the communities around them!

The awards come from the National Stone Sand & Gravel Association, and this year only 12 operations across the country earned Gold. Two of them are ours. ⭐

🥇 Gold: Rollag Sand & Gravel in Minnesota, and Presque Isle Quarry in Michigan, which also earned Two Stars of Excellence for its environmental and community work
🥈 Silver: Conco Underground Quarry, Wattenberg Pit, Rappahannock Farm / Kenson Property, and Littleton Quarry
🥉 Bronze: Niagara Quarry, Higley, Cañon City Quarry, Swampscott Quarry, and Sloan Quarry (Community Relations)

If you have a chance to visit the Obama Presidential Center on Chicago’s South Side, look up.

Near the top of the 225-foot tower is a speech written in concrete: 458 letters, each over four feet tall, cast from Amrize MAXtect, our ultra-high-performance concrete.

The panels weigh up to 14,000 pounds, but they were designed to look like they're floating, with no supports visible from inside. And because this is Chicago, they were tested at wind speeds 150% above the maximum expected off the lake. No cracking.

The letters were cast by Fine Concrete and engineered by TYLin, and they're built to stay legible for the next hundred years. That’s a lot of presidents.

Staying close to our operations means showing up. This past week, that meant Midlothian, Texas; Ste. Genevieve, Missouri; and Joppa, Illinois, where Amrize's top leaders spent time with the people who run our plants.

In Midlothian, they saw the new silos going up that will help our team keep pace with everything being built around Dallas–Fort Worth, and stopped by the Stephen G. Terrell Recreation Center, built with Amrize concrete and roofing.

In Ste. Genevieve, they visited North America's largest cement plant, which is growing again to serve communities up and down the Mississippi.

And in Joppa, they saw where cement goes into projects like the Kentucky Dam modernization — and even stopped for a photo op with a local superhero!

More people means more homes, roads, schools, and workplaces. The materials for all of that are made in America, in towns like these, by the people who show up every day to make them. Thank you to our teams in Texas, Missouri, and Illinois for the welcome.

Our Green Bay terminal team recently welcomed Congressman Tony Wied (WI-08) for a tour of our operations.

The cement moving through Green Bay is made at our Alpena, Michigan, plant and travels across Lake Michigan to serve customers throughout northeast Wisconsin. Made in the Midwest, for the Midwest.

We're always glad to show elected officials how our operations work and the role our teams and customers play in supporting communities across Wisconsin.

If you live in Chicago or have visited it, you’ve likely enjoyed the Riverwalk. But not so long ago, the river was an open sewer no one would have wanted to go near!

Carol Ross Barney is a big part of why people flock there now. The Chicago architect and her Ross Barney Architects team designed the Riverwalk (with Sasaki), as well as the 606. Both were built with Amrize materials, and both helped give people their city back. The 606, built on the old Bloomingdale rail line, was even routed past churches, schools, and playgrounds so kids could get between them without crossing a street.

In 2023, Carol became the first Chicagoan since Mies van der Rohe to receive The American Institute of Architects Gold Medal. She credits materials as part of Chicago’s architecture legacy — and we’re proud to help Carol realize her award-winning vision.
