๐ Before the concrete is cut, know whatโs beneath it.
Today, GPIS Concrete Scanning and Imaging scanned the basement slab at Winston Tower 3 in Chicago for North Shore Plumbing ahead of trenching for new plumbing.
The approximately 10-inch-thick slab contained intersecting rebar and multiple conduit / possible conduit routes at varying depthsโimportant conflicts to identify before cutting.
๐ต Blue markings: rebar
๐ด Red with white stripes: conduits / possible conduits
โ๏ธ Depth labels and arrows: estimated depths and interpreted routes
We documented the findings in a detailed end-of-job report and recommended a minimum 3-inch clearance in every direction from all anomaly markings. Any crossings within the proposed trench require further review before work proceeds.
GPR scanning helps reduce the risk of costly strikes, repairs, and delays. Itโs an important step in planning your next cut, core, or drill.
