The change in the air is officially here, and our raised beds are celebrating the season with our very first early fall harvest! 🍂💚 (image_5.png)

There is a grounding sense of abundance in gathering these cool-weather champions—thick, ruffling kales, hearty cabbages, and lush, peppery salad greens that thrive in the gentler autumn sun. Nature knows exactly what we need, right when we need it.

As we shift our gardening habits, it's important to adjust our care routine too.

💦 Cool-Weather Gardening Tip: Reduce your watering!
With cooler days and less intense sunlight, evaporation slows down significantly. Overwatering in the fall can lead to cold, soggy roots and plant stress. Before you reach for the hose, check the soil an inch down—if it's still damp, let it rest. You’ll save water and keep your leafy greens happy and healthy.

The heat dome has officially lifted, and our garden beds are practically celebrating! 🌡️➡️🍂

Summer can be tough on plants and gardeners alike, but fall brings a welcome reset. With cooler air settling over our raised beds, plants like cabbage, Swiss chard, kale, and lettuce are thriving in these milder, gentle conditions.

As temperatures drop, remember to adjust your routine:

Water Less Frequently: With reduced heat and shorter daylight hours, moisture stays in the soil much longer. Always feel the soil first to avoid overwatering.

Focus on Greens & Brassicas: Crops like Swiss chard, collard greens, kale, and cabbage thrive now, packed with crisp flavor and essential nutrients.

Mulch Well: A clean layer of straw helps regulate soil temperature and keeps moisture consistent without drowning plant roots.

Gardening in the autumn is a reminder that every season brings its own unique rhythm of growth and nourishment.

A garden should be a place where everyone feels welcome, grounded, and connected. 🌿✨

We recently finished planting this raised sensory garden for a local residential facility. Built at an accessible height, this bed is tailored specifically for tactile interaction and sensory engagement.

We selected hardy, aromatic plants like peppermint and rosemary, paired with autumn-blooming echinacea and sedum that bring warm color and life to the space even as seasons shift.

Fall is one of the most rewarding times to establish therapeutic garden spaces in our region. Cooler afternoons invite us outside, and the autumn soil gives new plants the perfect environment to establish strong, healthy roots for months to come.

Fall Garden season in Chattanooga is easily one of our favorite times of the year to get in the garden! 🍂🌱

We recently finished up this beautiful fall garden planting for a local client. We set them up with cool-season staples—think tender brassicas, hardy greens, and aromatic perennial herbs like sage and rosemary, all tucked safely under a insulating layer of organic mulch.

Many homeowners assume spring is the only time to plant, but early fall offers ideal conditions for root development in Zone 7b/8a. The soil is still warm, the air is crisp, and plants can thrive without the intense heat of midsummer.

Building healthy habits, harvesting fresh produce, and spending quiet time in nature doesn't stop when autumn arrives—it’s just getting started!

🍂 FALL REFRESH ALERT! We recently completed a lovely seasonal transition for a client's deck garden. After a busy summer season, it was essential to restore balance to the soil before introducing cool-weather favorites.

We refreshed the soil in these elevated beds with nutrient-dense worm castings and fresh mulch, creating the perfect cozy blanket for new roots. 🪵✨ These beds are now home to beautiful new collards, cabbage, and parsley.

Is there anything more nourishing than growing your own fall greens? We don’t think so! Get your raised beds ready for the cooler months. You can book your professional fall refresh at tastecraftgardens.com and join us in cultivating stronger communities!

Our hearts are full after a productive fall harvest and planting day at the Jessi Igou Community Center!

Between recent store-bought produce recalls and headlines about Cyclospora outbreaks, it’s completely natural to feel uncertain about what’s landing on your dinner table. But there is a wonderful, empowering alternative: growing your own! 🌿✨

You don't need a massive farm to enjoy a abundant harvest. Raised bed gardening allows you to maximize small backyards, urban nooks, and side yards to produce lush cabbages, prolific zucchini, aromatic herbs, and crunchy cucumbers for homemade pickles.

When you grow your own food, you know exactly where it came from, how it was cared for, and how clean it is. It’s peace of mind, physical wellness, and community connection wrapped into one rewarding habit.

What is one crop you’d love to step outside and harvest fresh for dinner tonight? Let us know in the comments below! 👇
