Found a burn barrel in the field... Well what's left of it haah

This field before we touched it was just overgrown with w**ds and very little grass. With the forecast showing a weeks worth of cloudy rainy weather we decided it was a good time to subsoil mulch and reseed the worst part of the field.
By stopping the w**d growth and reseeding the desired grasses in August we are hoping to get a field full of health grass to help feed the animals through the winter.

This field has always been a problem, growing more w**ds than grass. After the drought this spring hay production was down, so we ordered some specialized forage seeds that will be an annual here in NC.
Lets grind up the field and seed it with a mix of fescue, Bermuda, clover and some annuals that will grow tall and keep the animals fed for the winter.

The before and after video for the soil correction project, this was the instant results. We will be going back in a month or so to look at the progress of the grass growth to verify the correction is working.
At our return visit we will be testing the soil nutrient levels and then come up with a fertilizer schedule based off those results if one is needed.

Every project teaches you something, and this one definitely had a few surprises.
Our original plan was to correct the soil by incorporating organic material into the existing topsoil. Once we started, we discovered the area had been backfilled over buried stumps and large debris that couldn't be seen from the surface. That meant the scope of work had to change to properly address the underlying problem.
Even with the unexpected conditions, we honored the original quote because that's the commitment we made to our customer. We believe in doing the job right—not taking shortcuts or passing unexpected costs on when we can avoid it.
This is why every property is different and why experience matters. Sometimes the real work doesn't reveal itself until you get below the surface.

Part 1 of our Rutherfordton Nc, Soil Correction Project is here.

This may be a small area, but it shows exactly what soil correction is all about. We ground the entire site, incorporated organic material back into the soil, and uncovered a few surprises along the way that had to be worked through.

Unlike traditional land clearing, this process doesn't just clear the ground, it rebuilds it. The goal is to create healthy, workable soil that can support strong grass growth and reduce erosion for years to come.

Stay tuned for Part 2 to see how the project comes together and the final transformation.

Most people think all mulching equipment works the same, but that's not the case.

In this video, I break down the key differences between a forestry mulcher and a subsoil mulcher by showing the equipment side by side. You'll see how the rotor designs are completely different and why each machine produces a very different result.

The right attachment can make the difference between simply clearing vegetation and creating a smooth, plant-ready surface.

Watch the video and see why the equipment matters.

This project shows the difference our subsoil mulching process can make. We don't just clear vegetation, we process it into the soil, remove root systems, improve seedbed conditions, and leave the property ready for its next use.
