One of the most overlooked details in construction is where the ceiling meets the exterior. If those boundaries aren’t clearly defined, issues like air leakage, moisture intrusion, and energy loss can follow. In this build, we’re intentional about separating interior ceiling assemblies from exterior conditions. That separation protects the envelope, improves performance, and ensures the systems above the ceiling are doing exactly what they’re designed to do. It’s not a flashy detail—but it’s one that makes a measurable difference long after the project is complete.

What started as a spec home quickly shifted into something more personal once the right family came along. After reviewing the lighting package, the homeowners asked to swap the living room fan for a chandelier that better fit how they live—and that flexibility matters. We made the adjustment without slowing down the overall timeline because delivery still counts. Blending the efficiency of a spec with the intention of custom is how we best serve our clients.

From quarry to porch—this Tennessee flagstone tells a story. It may break down with a hammer, but don’t let that fool you: as a true stone, its strength in compression is the real deal.

We carried that same Tennessee stone palette indoors for the fireplace, just scaled down to keep the space balanced. The result is a seamless flow that ties the exterior and interior together through texture, color, and intention.
