Groundworks is excited to announce the selection of the Urban Design Partners + groundworks studio team as the designers for the urban plaza for the Circle of Humanity - Monuments for Unity and Remembrance. The project includes a new Holocaust sculpture near the existing MLK sculpture within Marshall Park in Charlotte. The winning proposal, Woven Histories, was inspired by collaboration and support of the African-American and Jewish communities during the Civil Rights Movement. The space is envisioned as a place for remembrance, education, and reflection.

Thank you to Nicole Perri Architecture for including groundworks studio on the Cain Center for the Arts Ceramics and Office Courtyard project! This historic preservation and placemaking project will provide a community gathering space in the heart of downtown Cornelius.

We are so happy to welcome April Riehm to groundworks as a summer intern! April is a dual degree master's student studying Landscape Architecture and City and Regional Planning at Clemson University. April graduated from The Savannah College of Art and Design summa cm laude and worked as an editorial and advertising photographer before returning to graduate school. She was recently awarded the SC ASLA Merit Award.
