🚨 ATTENTION HOMEOWNERS: Stop letting roofers install a new roof over your existing roof!
We recently received a call from a homeowner who was having problems with their gutters. Water wasn’t being properly caught by the gutters, and the resulting moisture was contributing to rot on their porch.
When we inspected the gutter system, we noticed something important: a new metal roof had been installed directly over the existing metal roof.
That extra layer raised the roofline and left the gutters sitting too low. This created a gap between the new roof and the existing gutter system, preventing the gutters from properly catching and directing water.
💧 The result? Water was getting where it shouldn’t. Luckily, we were able to build out the fascia and install new gutters properly so water does not over shoot the gutters anymore.
This is just one example of why simply installing a new roof over an existing roof can create problems that may not be obvious at first.
🏠A new roof should be installed correctly—not simply installed over the old one.
