What’s the deal with misting? How often? Why? Where? When?!

Grab your spray bottle… but don’t get too excited. 😂

Misting can temporarily increase humidity around a plant, but it doesn’t replace watering. Most of that moisture evaporates fairly quickly, and you still have to actually water your plant.

So when does misting make sense?

For tropicals: A little extra moisture in the air can be nice, especially in very dry indoor environments.

For cleaning: Spraying can help loosen dust from some leaves. But honestly, wiping them clean is more effective.

🚫 What misting doesn’t do: It doesn’t provide the moisture that roots need.

Bottom line: Misting isn’t bad, but it’s not magic either. Think of it as a little humidity boost.

Crispy brown leaf tips don’t just mean your plant is having a bad day. They’re a clue that something is off. The secret is figuring out what it is.

Here are some common culprits:

~Inconsistent watering: Letting a plant get bone-dry and then soaking it can stress the roots.

~Dry air: Indoor heating and air conditioning can make plants angry.

~Mineral or fertilizer buildup: Salts in the soil can accumulate and burn leaf edges.

~Too much sun: Some plants will develop brown, crispy patches when they’re getting more direct light than they can handle.

~Root problems: Struggling roots make it harder for a plant to take up the water it needs.

As you can see, brown tips don’t always mean the same thing. DRAMA! The plant, its environment, and its care routine all matter.

Plot twist: These hanging plants are faux and that’s totally okay. 🙌

Sometimes a space has challenging light, tricky temperatures, high ceilings, or simply isn’t the right environment for living plants.

That’s where high-quality artificial plants can step in and bring the greenery without the maintenance.

Because the goal isn’t always real plants at all costs. It’s creating a beautiful, welcoming space that works for the people who use it. We just LOVE how this project turned out.

If you can’t get outside, the next best thing is to bring a little bit of the outdoors in. That’s the idea behind biophilic design.
