Reclaiming a backyard in Burns, Tennessee

Here’s a quick project we knocked out this morning. This backyard was overrun with weeds, saplings, and a lot of privet. We knocked everything down with the forestry mulcher to get it back to a place that would be more manageable.

Solving Flooding Issues in Pleasantville, TN

Part 1:
Another drainage problem getting a permanent solution.

We’re installing a new French drain system in front of a local community center that has been dealing with water runoff and flooding around the building.

The new system will collect water before it reaches the foundation and redirect it safely away from the property. We’re also tying in surface drainage and downspouts to help manage water coming off the roof and surrounding areas.

Good drainage isn’t just about moving water—it’s about protecting the building and preventing bigger problems down the road.

Emergency Sink Hole Repair - Centerville, TN

This week we were called out after a roadway caved in and broke a water line. Once the line was exposed and repaired, we excavated the failed area and found the culprit—an old buried burn pile containing logs and stumps that had rotted away over time, leaving voids beneath the road.

We removed the soft, unstable material, rebuilt the area with chert and rock, and proof-rolled it with a loaded dump truck to make sure everything was solid and well compacted. We finished by grading the road and topping it with a fresh load of crusher run.

Sometimes the biggest problems are the ones you can’t see until you start digging!

Today was a day filled with mud and hydraulic fluid. We are diverting some standing water in this low laying area and placing some culverts. We managed to sink the excavator and had a pin hole leak in one of the hard hydraulic lines on the excavator. Huge shoutout to Danscapes for helping get the excavator unstuck and to Black Ridge Welding for quick on-site welding repair to solve our hydraulic problem.

Howdy, friends! We have a pretty exciting favor to ask.

Wolf Creek Land Co. has been given an incredible opportunity. We’ve been selected as a finalist in the John Deere Building America giveaway for a large excavator!

As part of this experience, my son and I had the opportunity to travel to John Deere headquarters, tour the factory, and attend the John Deere Classic together. Getting to share that experience with him made this opportunity even more special and gave us some memories we’ll hang onto for a long time.

For a small business like ours, winning a machine like this would be a tremendous blessing and would make a huge difference in what we’re able to do and the projects we can take on.
