1. Thermostat set to HEAT, and fresh batteries if it uses them
2. The filter. A clogged one (like this) can shut the furnace down
3. The furnace switch and breaker are ON

Test it now: switch the thermostat to HEAT and set it 5 degrees above the room temperature. You should feel warm air within a few minutes. If you get cold air, nothing happens, or there's a burning smell that won't go away, call us while we can still get to you fast. Don't wait for the first freeze, when everyone calls at once.

This came out of a furnace one of our techs serviced. 😬

A filter this clogged makes your system work harder, run longer, and push dust right back through the house. In bad cases it can even freeze up the coil.

Most 1-inch filters need swapping every 1 to 3 months, more often with pets. Pull yours and hold it up to the light. If you can't see through it, it's time.
