We’ve been seeing a lot of posts lately from folks in our community looking for contractors—and unfortunately, just as many comments from individuals who are not licensed or insured offering services.
As a local builder, I feel like it’s important to say this:
Please do your homework before hiring anyone.
Before entering into a construction project, make sure you:
Verify your contractor’s license
Confirm they carry general liability and workers comp insurance
Ask for references and past work
Make sure you have a written contract in place
This isn’t about competition—it’s about protecting homeowners in our community. We see far too many people end up in bad situations due to poor workmanship, lack of communication, or contractors who simply disappear mid-project. Taking a few extra steps upfront can save you a lot of stress, time, and money. While I do my best to earn your trust and gain a working relationship, this is to hopefully push homeowners that just don't know any better to do a little homework before hiring.
