🌬️❄️ Severe Freeze Alert Saturday-Sunday: Central Florida
⚠️ A historically significant freeze is expected this weekend across Winter Park and surrounding areas.
Overnight temperatures may drop into the upper 20s–low 30s for multiple hours, which is beyond the tolerance of many plants commonly used in Central Florida landscapes.
What this means for your landscape:
🌿 Some plants may go dormant and recover
🌿 Many will not survive, including tropicals, tender ornamentals, and newly installed plants
🌿 Damage may not be visible right away — plant loss often appears weeks later
What you can do (limited impact):
✔️ Lightly water soil before the freeze (only if foliage can fully dry)
✔️ Cover sensitive plants where practical
✔️ Move container plants into protected areas
⚠️ These steps may help but cannot prevent widespread damage during a freeze of this severity.
How Welch Outdoor can help:
✅ Post-freeze evaluations
✅ Identify dormant vs. deceased plants
✅ Recovery, removal & replanting plans
✅ Long-term, more resilient landscape strategies
📌 Important: Immediate assessments are unreliable. Proper evaluation requires time and warmer weather.
We know plant loss is frustrating. Patience after the freeze is key — some plants may recover, others won’t.
