We are in the middle of a beautiful and bountiful fava bean harvest! Come to the Field of Dreams and help us harvest, then bring home some of your own to plant. We will be there Thursdays from 2-4 and this Saturday (special harvest day) at 9 am. Address and directions in the comments, hope to see you there!

Potato planting at Field of Dreams! Plus hawk friends [please may you find tasty gopher treats 🙇]

Picture 3: Our planting included a locally adapted variety developed by Agnes Li in Fort Bragg, Ca. She started growing potatoes from true seed and then switched to propagating by tuber [clone] once she found one she liked and did well. These potatoes were also the clear winner in our [informal] storage trial! And tasty too :)

Thanks to all who came out last week to the seed exchange! Besides sharing seeds and plants, Nik gave a demonstration of his seed cleaner, FairyAnn showed off her beautiful toilet, Wojapi hosted a jewerly making table, Jini and Jeff brought 2 tables full or heirloom seed packets to share from the Pomona Grange, and Elise got inspired to write a very cool article! Seed exchanges are this weekend in Willits, and the following weekend at the Fort Bragg Library! You'll be able to find many lovely seeds from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds secured by the Pomona Grange, thanks to Ann Brigit Waters and Jini Reynolds. But donations won't always be there-- which crop will you learn how to grow and save for seed in 2026? (Start by coming to one of the seed exchanges!)

For the last few years we have been getting urchin shells donated from coastal dives to add to our soil… we usually let the pile sit over winter to rinse out the extra salt.. noticed some radish seeds have made there way over to the pile and are happily growing!
