Eastern Red Cedar limb. You can see the start of every limb. And each starts at the pith and runs diagonally. So when I cross cut this trunk, it shows how the limbs we’re making their way to the outside world! Trees are so cool!

Here’s a print from the limb of a pin oak. The medullary rays are everywhere. This tree was massive. But I cut a piece from the limb because I was deep in the woods. I cut it right where it came of the trunk. Almost like it was quarter dawn. The darker spots are where the rays were parallel to the cut. Really cool how much you can capture in a print based on the cut. Big things coming! Stay tuned!

Locust #2. Here’s a big print of a piece of Locust that came from downtown Brevard, NC. It was attack by carpenter ants. It looks like a melted smiley face. Took some finesse in prepping this because the sap wood was so soft after being attacked by the ants. Wasn’t an easy print but it came out pretty detailed. Always a challenge!
