Wrapped up an awesome office built in painted the room and changed out the lights and lighting controls. This thing is over 10' tall. There are 4 Lutron RRD Pro dimmers here. The color is called Iron Ore. This is the first time I've used Sherwin's Gallery cabinet finish. It was ok as a product, as long as you NEVER use their matching primer. There's something to be said for the convenience of being able to buy a cabinet finish at my local store.

So this one was interesting. "wires, we don't need no stinking wires.." Tied the neutral to ground, and then used the neutral wire as a hot on a 240v circuit without taping it to indicate it's use. The finishing touch was to use a 3 phase outlet instead of the single phase needed.

The big box retailer responsible for this will not be named, but this definitely deserves a place on the wall of shame. This resulted in not one but two jobs to fix their work. The homeowner was originally told that their old unit couldn't be removed because the wood floor was in the way and needed to be cut out. It slid right out after adjusting the feet. The second call was to fix their install. The drain tube wasn't attached correctly and leaked, they didn't bother to even install the mounting brackets on the side, and they compensated by using the leveling feet to jam it hard against the countertop hoping it wouldn't move. The previous install had some weatherstripping under the granite for sound sealing and they jammed the control panel into it hard enough to roll adhesive side down as seen by all the glue residue on the buttons and display. Maybe time for some training. Just Sayin...

Again fixing botched work. The homeowner found that their contractor didn't provide waterproofing when posting to facebook and getting an overwhelming response about the workmanship rather than the style. I was hired to remove the previous work and reconstruct. The shower was torn back to bare studs. Reinforcement was added behind the walls for the heavy shower door and grab bar. The new Hardibacker wall was shimmed to create a flat wall this time. Schluter Kerdi shower system was used for waterproofing and shower pan.

I love fixing what other contractors have failed on. This contractor didn't line up this new closet wall with the existing structure and thought that joint compound was the answer. I still don't understand the stud spacing here. For my remedy, the existing framing was removed, the drywall on both sides was removed. The closet was reframed coplanar with the existing structure, and drywalled from corner to corner with no seams. The same guy also tried to install a header over a door. I had a good laugh. Luckily it wasn't actually in a load bearing wall or things could have been bad.

Mix of old and new. The tolerance for framing this was +/- 1/8" over the entire room, corner to corner. There are 2 different types of urethane cabinet finish. Please don't paint cabinets and trim with latex!!!!
