Forget Me Not Gardens

Forget Me Not Gardens I share interesting links, pics that make me happy, and my Swiss roots of thrifty living, and up-cycling.

Plants, trees, vegetables,& Forget Me Nots, grown by me from seeds, cuttings, or division of plants I've grown in rural Duvall for 33 years...
Starting over again in North Central Washington in the North Cascades at the Red Cabin 4 years ago... Places I've been, or want to visit, and beautiful gardens around the world. I've always had a "green thumb" indoors, but when I began "reclaiming" my rural

acre and a half from Mother Nature, I found my "green thumb" extended outside. My home landscaping is mostly from cuttings, gifts, or plants that other folks did not want in their garden anymore. Of course End-of-Season shopping in Garden Departments, or even grocery stores is a must to take advantage of deals on specimen trees. Vegetable gardening is best way to feed my family fresh healthy food from the garden to the table, and there is great gratification from growing food. Since I began collecting my favorite seeds every year, I have stronger, healthier plants suited for our area, and I share those with my family, and neighbors. My Weeping Willows have become the most popular tree cutting I make, as it seems I'm not the only one who grew up wanting one in my yard. O course there are always Forget Me Nots on my property, hence the name ;)

Lucky Lucy is approximately 5 years old now, one evening as Winter was approaching we saw something white move by the garbage cans.
My daughter brought this little near death, starving kitten over to me, it had been dumped up on our mountain road, and I found her sister, who's happily living in Seattle now
Semi-feral Lucy has only just become loving, and asking for attention, but I still can't pick her up🤣❣️

My first try at Strawberry Rhubarb Pie American style❣️
My Oma made Rhabarberwähe which is traditional in Zurich.
In fact, Wähe is a Breakfast favorite made with whatever fruit is in season, and a quick mix custard of Milk, Eggs, Sugar.
The Secret ingredient a touch of ground Muskatnuss, aka Nutmeg into the custard mixed well and poured over the fruit layered on a cookie sheet.
I've cheated with store bought crusts, my Oma always had a dash of vinegar in her homemade crusts that made it much flakier.
The Bakeries around the Zurich sold it fresh daily, cut into big squares, fruit layed out like Art, Cherries, Plums, Apricots.. and served it as fast food on paper to go❣️
Oh the memories 🇨🇭
