A perfect day for planting. The bees have already found these new flowers. We’ve got lots of veggies and lots of edible flowers in the lineup today. We love planting edible flowers so we can use them in our salads and on our plates to turn our meals into works of art. Happy Memorial Day!

Drawing immense inspiration from Utah’s Zion National Park and wishing I was as incredible of a designer as the great forces that created this place. As I photograph and study the native landscape, I realize there’s a pattern—a plan—in the wildness here.

The forces that created these canyons knew just the right spot for every cottonwood, every desert-dwelling plant, every pine tree. A blueprint that from up close looks random, but when you get some perspective you see there’s strategy in the rawness of it all.

As I reflect on my time spent in this wilderness, I remember why I chose landscaping as my career. Though I may not be as powerful as the forces that created this land, I can certainly learn many a secret from them and share its beautiful ways through the work I’m privileged to do.
