We went out to a service call for a local business this week that two other companies told them that they had a refrigerant leak in their evaporator coil and that they needed to buy a new system. Opened up the system and found the cause of their low pressure to be just a plugged up and dirty evaporator coil.

A dirty evaporator coil can cause you to have low pressures that can make it look like you may be low on refrigerant as well as it can cause the system to freeze up. When diagnosing a system you have to always check the airflow before the refrigerant charge, without proper airflow the refrigerant charge doesn’t matter.

After a good cleaning of the coil and the blower assembly this system was back up and running properly and cooled down the space in no time.

As a small family owned hvac company we believe in quality over quantity and take plenty of time on each call to properly diagnose and provide cost friendly options. In this case we saved this customer thousands and got them up and running in just a few short hours.

Yesterday out at a no cool service call we stumbled upon a bad condenser fan motor not running but also a broken and cracked fan blade.

Broken/cracked fan blades can cause a horrible imbalance as the blade spins and puts unnecessary strain on your condenser fan motor bearings leading to failure of the motor, as well as if the blade breaks while running it can cause some serious damage to your outdoor unit.
