One of the biggest clinical mistakes:
Assuming calm = processed.
When in reality…
👉 The client might be dissociating
👉 The nervous system might be shutting down
👉 The system might be protecting—not resolving

If you miss this moment and keep going?

Let’s be honest about this:

The “ideal EMDR client” looks like:
✔️ Single-incident trauma
✔️ Strong self-regulation
✔️ Clear cognition
✔️ Minimal dissociation

Read this slowly:
The thing that used to pull you away from yourself…
Can become the thing that brings you back.
That’s what healing looks like.

Confusion used to mean:
❌ Self-doubt
❌ Disconnection
❌ Anxiety

Now it can mean:
✔️ Awareness
✔️ Choice
✔️ Self-trust

Same feeling.
Completely different relationship.

Read that again.

So many women override their intuition to maintain connection—even when something feels off.
Mixed signals.
Inconsistency.
Gaslighting.

And instead of questioning them…
We question ourselves.

That’s conditioning.

Feeling confused doesn’t mean you’re failing.
It might mean you’re healing.

We’ve been taught to treat confusion like a red flag 🚩
Like something is wrong with us.
But in brain-based therapy, confusion is something very different:
It’s a signal from your nervous system.

A sign that something no longer aligns.
Don’t rush to fix it.
Get curious about it.

Hot take: It doesn’t matter why they did it.
You can analyze someone’s behavior for years…and still feel stuck.
Because focusing on “why” keeps you in rumination.
The real shift?
➡️ “How do I respond differently now?”
➡️ “What’s being activated in me?”

That’s where your power is.
That’s where change happens.
